A jewel of the southern hemisphere - NGC 3372 The Carina Nebula

Taken over just one night from my backyard in Wellington, NZ

Individual frames calibrated, analysed, registered and normalised.

Stacked in APP with LN Mad Winsor clipping and one iteration of 1st Local Normalisation Correction

Dark structure enchance script

Star reduction script

ACDNR and TVGNoise reduction

MLT Sharpening with a range mask minus star mask so we only target nebulosity

Invert mask and reduce saturation of the background and stars with an S Curve adjustment

Final Histogram stretch with the same range mask still applied to bring the finer details of nebulosity out

Saved for further processing in Affinity Photo

Black point adjustment

Saturation and vibrance increase

Contrast and brightness adjustment

Selective colour adjsutment on the cyan and blue channels

Downsampled and exported as JPG for the web
